The City of Fairbanks is known as the "Golden Heart City," and if you have the good fortune to visit or live here, you will soon discover why we have earned that name. The people of Fairbanks are known for their generosity of spirit, hospitality, and friendliness. Our city is vibrant with business and trade, outdoor and sports activities, and a dynamic arts community.

We enjoy the most beautiful extremes of nature, with summer days filled with endless sunshine, and wintry nights aglow with the Northern Lights. We are proud to call the City of Fairbanks our home, and invite you to enjoy all that Fairbanks has to offer!

City Hall: Visit City Hall and view the historical quilt display in the Council Chambers, or see our work in progress, the "Hall of Mayors," with photos and histories of all of Fairbanks' mayors. We also have the "History of Main School" available online, which portrays the historic building we now call City Hall.

Departments: The city government manages building permits, business licensing, emergency and police services, garbage collection, road service, and special events. This website will provide you with contact information for all of our departments, and links to other government agencies as well.

PUBLIC NOTICE REGARDING CITY OF FAIRBANKS AND NANSULATE PAINT

In September of 2009, Industrial Nanotech, Inc., the makers of Nansulate paint, issued a press release that suggested the City of Fairbanks was going to purchase 12,000 gallons of the company's paint. This was incorrect. The City of Fairbanks purchased only 15 gallons of the Nansulate paint to test the product as a possible vapor barrier. The City of Fairbanks has no intention of purchasing any additional Nansulate paint. Please address any questions to Paul Ewers, City Attorney for City of Fairbanks.
