City of Fairbanks Council Members

The City of Fairbanks, Alaska, was incorporated on November 10, 1903, and for almost 60 years the City of Fairbanks had no City Council. Then on November 22, 1960, a special election was held which successfully ratified a home-rule charter giving the City of Fairbanks its current "Council-Mayor" form of government. Through the auspices of the office of the Mayor, the City Council enacts laws, ordinances, resolutions and administrative orders. The Fairbanks City Council is an elected legislative body. The Council approves the City budget, sets the mill rate for taxation, and appropriates funds to provide for City services. The Council also forms boards and committees to appraise and advise them of various options for their consideration.

The Fairbanks City Council is composed of six members, each elected to serve three-year terms. Their terms are staggered such that each October, two council seats are up for election.

The current Council Members are shown below, along with contact information and the expiration date of their seat on the council. City Council meetings are held Mondays following the the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:00 PM, in the Council Chambers located at 800 Cushman Street.
