Fairbanks Snowmobile Safety and Education Program

The Department’s Snowmobile Liaison Officer is Officer Lindhag who, along with volunteers, teaches snowmobile safety for local schools, youth groups and the general public. All work done by Officer Lindhag is in addition to normal patrol duties.

Officer Lindhag and volunteers have assisted with numerous events including, Kid Fest, The Open North American, Yukon Quest, Iditarod, Cub Scout Safety Day, and other community events.

Fairbanks Snow Travelers work with FPD, Explorers, and VIP’s to host Snowmobile Rodeos for the entire family.

A Safe Rider Incentive Program has been instituted to encourage and reward safe riders. Public service announcements on TV and radio promote safety and advertise the Safe Rider Incentive Program.
